Our Back to School Collection is finally here! It’s unlike anything we’ve done in the past: full of versatile styles made to mix, match, and layer. Everything is made with the playground and preschool in mind. Translation? It’s super durable, cut from our engineered-for-Play Soluxe™ Bamboo blends. And to capture those back-to-school vibes, we traveled to Utah and shot the collection outside, playground and all — something we’ve never done before!
We absolutely loved bringing this collection to life and are thrilled to share this edition of Behind the Design, where we reveal the inspiration, collaboration, and creative minds that took it from concept to your doorstep.

Inspired by the Playground… & Your Feedback!
Last fall, we surveyed thousands of LS customers to learn more about what you wanted from our Play line. One key takeaway was that you wanted more seasonal collections that you could mix and match, with a neutral aesthetic designed for daytime. We also learned that durability was a top priority. We took these learnings to heart, and we’re proud to say this Back to School Collection is made to mix, match, and layer, full of trendy earthy shades, and made from our more durable (but still ultra-soft) Soluxe™ Bamboo blends!

Mix, Match & Layer, Season After Season
We looked at color trends for the season and chose an array of earthy shades that are super versatile and will appeal to both kiddos and parents. There’s Honey, Aqua Mist, Heather Gray, Vintage Navy, Mauve Blush, Moss, and more in the lineup, plus some subtle stripes, a cool-kid, sticker-inspired Positive Vibes print, and a school-ready outer space design.
We made sure the solids look great with the prints from this collection and other drops, too. So, your littles can easily mix and match to make tons of cute looks. For example, our Mauve Blush Denim Jeggings would look darling with our Midwash Denim Jacket, our Positive Vibes Sweatshirt matches the Fog or Moss Joggers you may have in your kiddos’ wardrobe, and more.
Wear a Pocket or Puff Sleeve Tee with any of our stretchy, playground-ready bottoms, and then add a thicker, warmer piece to transition into the fall and winter! The combinations are endless, and the pieces are so much fun for your little one to experiment with.

Let’s Get Outside, LS Fam!
We did something totally new for this photoshoot. Since the pieces were made for the playground, we decided we had to head outdoors! A handful of members from our team, including our Art Director, Project Manager, Director of Product, Director of Marketing, and Social Media Manager, all got together at a cute playground we had scouted.
The photoshoot was a blast, with a diverse cast of cute models ranging from toddlers to big kids, tons of props like skateboards, hula hoops, and soccer balls, plus the jungle gym to swing, jump, and climb on. We turned up some fun music and started mixing and matching our favorite back-to-school outfits, even letting the kids choose the pieces they loved most.

“It was so rewarding to see this collection come to life. We had an amazing time with the kids, and it was fun to capture their genuine connections and shared experiences. My intention behind the shoot was to create a fun, authentic environment where the kids could be themselves, make new friends, and, most important of all, Play.
From the basketball court to the jungle gym, from skateboarding to hula-hooping and playing soccer on the grass, we highlight the durability and versatility of this collection in real-life scenarios. There's nothing these kids can't do, and that goes for each piece in this collection, too!.”

"It was so rewarding to see all of our planning come to life with this photoshoot and I loved getting to meet so many of the kiddos and parents IRL. This was different than our usual photoshoots so from a project management perspective there was a lot of moving pieces to account for — more product, more models, more team members but also so much magic! We aimed to ensure every detail, from location to props, showcased how the collection is perfect for everyday adventures."
