One way we do this is by donating a portion of all proceeds to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a non-profit dedicated to fighting pediatric cancer and advancing research for a cure. Since the launch of our partnership in 2018, we've donated more than $1 million to support the organization. This partnership is close to our hearts, and we're excited to share how you can join us in supporting this incredible cause, especially during their annual Lemonade Days fundraiser!
The Inspiring Story of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation began with a simple yet powerful vision from an inspiring young girl named Alex Scott. At the age of 4, Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. Despite her own battle, Alex was determined to help other kids like her. She set up her first lemonade stand in her front yard, with the goal of raising $1 million for her doctors to find a cure for pediatric cancer.
Her spirit and determination inspired a wave of support from her community and beyond! Tragically, Alex passed away in 2004 at the age of 8, but not before achieving her goal.
Since then, ALSF has continued her mission, raising over $250 million to fund research projects, provide financial assistance to families, and bring hope to children and families affected by cancer.
What Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation Does
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation is more than just a fundraising organization. The foundation's key initiatives include:
Family Support: ALSF provides travel grants to help families cover the costs of traveling for treatment, and they offer programs to support siblings and bereaved families.
Research Funding: ALSF has funded over 1,000 research projects at nearly 150 institutions, focusing on finding better treatments and cures for childhood cancers.
Raising Awareness: Through events and campaigns, ALSF raises awareness about pediatric cancer and the urgent need for more research and funding.
Celebrating Lemonade Days: 20 Years of Making a Difference
One of ALSF's biggest annual events is Lemonade Days, a fundraising initiative that has become both a beloved tradition and nationwide movement!
In 2024, Lemonade Days celebrates its 20th anniversary, and to mark this milestone, the event will expand to cover the entire month of June. More lemonade stands means more funds raised for pediatric cancer research!
How You Can Get Involved
Getting involved in Lemonade Days is a fun and rewarding way to support ALSF's mission. Here's how you can join in:
Pick a Location and Date: Choose a date (or multiple dates!) between June 1 and June 30. Find a location where you can set up your lemonade stand - it could be your front yard, a local park, or even a community event.
Register Your Stand: Register your lemonade stand on the ALSF website. Registration is free, and you'll get resources and tips to help make your stand a success!
Spread the Word: Share your Lemonade Days event with family, friends and neighbors. Use email, social media and word of mouth to let people know about your stand and the cause it supports.
Hold Your Lemonade Stand: Set up your stand, sell lemonade, and have a great time! Knowing that every cup you sell is contributing to important research makes the experience even sweeter. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to a cure!
