Most Popular Ice Cream Truck Treats in Every State

The most popular ice cream truck treat in every state

Do you remember that familiar melody echoing down the street on a hot July afternoon? For generations, the sound of the approaching ice cream truck has triggered an immediate neighborhood sprint. Kids ask parents for money, racing to the curb before the truck disappears around the corner. Years later, many of us still listen for that jingle, only now we're sharing the tradition with our own children.

Those sticky, sweet summer days create memories that last a lifetime. While the experience of rushing for the truck is practically universal, the frozen treat people order at the window isn't the same everywhere.

To discover which classic ice cream truck treats Americans love most today, we analyzed Google Trends search interest across all 50 states and identified the most searched frozen novelty treat in each state. The results reveal surprising regional preferences and show which nostalgic favorites still dominate across the country.

What Is Every State’s Favorite Ice Cream Truck Treat?

Using Google Trends search data, we determined the most popular ice cream truck treat in every state. The results show that while Americans share a love for frozen desserts, regional preferences vary widely.

The map below reveals the frozen treats winning hearts—and ice cream truck orders—from coast to coast.

America's Favorite Ice Cream Truck Treats Ranked.

When examining all 50 states, two iconic frozen treats emerged as the most popular choices nationwide: the Ice Cream Sandwich and the Orange Pop. Both ranked as the most searched treat in 13 states. While the Ice Cream Sandwich delivers a familiar chocolate-and-vanilla combination, the Orange Pop offers a refreshing citrusy alternative.

The Strawberry Shortcake Bar secured a solid third-place spot. Its crunchy cake-flavored crumb coating and vanilla-strawberry center set it apart from traditional popsicles. It earned a fiercely loyal following in 11 states.

Cherry Pops also made a notable showing, leading the pack in seven states. Meanwhile, Bomb Pops and Lemonade Pops were the go-to treats in two states each.

A handful of treats showed notable pockets of popularity. While the Orange Pop won over much of the U.S., its creamy counterpart, the Creamsicle, was the favorite in just one state: West Virginia. Kentucky preferred the Fudge Pop, and Oklahoma stood alone with the brain-freeze-worthy Snow Cone.
